......the first step which is always being taken, is to let each note speak, each a different country, with its own landscapes, feeling and colour. This can be a sensual opening, a discovery of feeling both personal and universal, a song of the heart and body.

The essence is awareness, allowing vocal resonance to resonate with your whole being, its' beauty in the surrender of the ego, allowing pure tones to arise and giving the feeling of being sung by the sound.

Towards a Yoga of Sound

These workshops are the basis of what I offer, and take different formats - one/two day workshops and longer courses.

Songworlds

Courses to explore the 'resonant field" of memory through melody and song. Sound, melody, text and intuitive movement are used to access and work creatively with themes arising for participants in the 'now'.

Workshops

Special teaching events and seminars with Tim and colleagues, for anyone interested in the creative exploration of sound and movement.

I also offer individual teaching sessions. Please contact me for details.

Performance

As a performer I am part of the duo Tandj, and am currently engaged in a recording and performing project Navagraha - new arrangements of the early C19th South Indian planetary song cycle 'The Navagraha Kritis'.

This site also aims to be a meeting place for ideas and connections, as well as providing information on The Nature of Sound events, workshops and courses.

THE ORAL TRADITION that is some-times called the Indian Scale, or Seven Shining Tones ...Sa, Re, Ga, Ma, Pa, Dha, Ni, Sa... puts you in contact with a millennia old, still living and vibrant tradition with its understanding of the power of sound. This understanding grows into a bodily felt awareness of each note, putting you in touch with universal resonance and silence, stillness and movement.

This is the nature of sound.
